THE ROLE

As the Supplier Quality Engineer at Damen Naval, you play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and timely delivery of key-equipment, vital to the delivery of our state-of-the-art naval vessels. To ensure the quality of all equipment, you will ensure the evaluation report for each specific product and/or manufacturer is covering all elements. Based on these evaluation reports, you will arrange and conduct (field) surveys and organize Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT). Once these surveys and tests have been completed, you will follow-up on the actions, non-conformities, and rectifications to ensure timely resolution.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

As Supplier Quality Engineer your key responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring key and critical vendors, flagging potential delivery and quality issues as part of our Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) approach.
• Aligning with Project Quality Manager to ensure all relevant qualification criteria related to quality compliance and delivery performance are included in the SQA.
• Identifying and overseeing corrective actions, escalating issues to the relevant internal stakeholders when necessary.
• Strategically planning and executing risk-based field surveys and/or supplier qualification audits
• Responsible for (project) Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) including FAT planning, FAT coordination and (arranging) FAT execution and reporting.
• Ensures that all preconditions are met for executing a FAT e.g. FAT protocol available, stakeholders invited, Subject Matter Experts arranged, etc.
• Acts as single point of contact during field surveys, audits and FAT’s and effectively manage stakeholders.
• Perform verification and validation with the technical specifications and/or customer requirements during the FAT including administration of non-conformities.
• Follow up on actions, non-conformities, and rectifications resulting from the FAT, ensuring timely resolution.
• Support the Desk Expeditor with monitoring, expediting, and reporting on hardware and/or delivery dates, arranging transport and shipping of goods.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

To excel as Supplier Quality Engineer, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

• Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Shipbuilding or Quality management.
• At least five years relevant experience in a relevant Engineering, Production, Commissioning (EPC) environment.
• Experience with compliance and quality processes in a technical production environment and in working with supply chain applications and tools.
• Certificates of specialist courses in the field of auditing, quality inspections and non-destructive inspections.
• Solid knowledge of production and quality processes.
• Good command of the Dutch and English language both written and verbal.
• Awareness of business travel or working abroad, possibly frequent, of long duration and/or intercontinental.
• Available and willing to frequently travel internationally to our supplier's locations.
• Excellent references antecedents because a pre-employment security screening is a standard part of the recruitment procedure.
• Permanent EU citizenship combined with an EU work visa are both required for our employees given the military nature of projects.
