THE ROLE

As Draftsman at Damen Naval, you are responsible for preparing drawings, diagrams, and arrangements during precontract activities in the Proposal department. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary design team, you will support the technical definition of Damen Naval offers. Your work will involve assisting other design engineers, proposal engineers, and tender managers in various technical tasks within proposal reporting for the naval architecture team. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

As Draftsman your key responsibilities will include:

• Prepare drawings, diagrams, and arrangements within proposals, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Support in creating other graphical representations, including 3D modelling and prototyping.
• Visualize Damen Naval projects via electronic and physical models for customers.
• Identify spatial needs and allocate functions within the arrangement of Damen Naval ships.
• Perform trade-offs for the optimum arrangement of elements onboard.
• Contribute to the ideal architecture of Damen Naval designs.
• Collaborate with other departments such as engineering and production to ensure a smooth transition of the design into subsequent phases.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

To excel as Draftsman, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

• Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Naval Engineering, or a related field, combined with at least three years of relevant experience.
• Experience in preparing drawings and diagrams within shipbuilding and visualizing ideas through hand sketches.
• Expertise and experience in a variety of design concepts and practices, including hands-on coordination of the design process.
• Proficiency in a variety of software design and presentation tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or Rhino.
• Good command of the Dutch and English language both written and verbal.
• Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
